Moving images from the wild realms of solitude
Wang Yue has trekked through the remote Retezat mountains of Romania during four days. The images and sounds she collected during her journey form the base of her audiovisual installation. Photographic sequences of her solitary march and military archive images are juxtaposed against the sound of her steps, her ragged breath, the news of a roaming bear, as well as the voices of her grandparents who have lived alone for decades. The realm between inner and outer landscapes reveals a loose and evocative topography of solitude.
