Remembering coming of age
Do you remember the year you turned 21? It is with this question that Mats Staub started the conversation with more than a hundred people throughout the world. For some of them, that birthday occurred 70 years ago, while others have just celebrated it. During a first encounter, he records their story. He then condenses it in a 15-minute montage that each of the inter-viewees listens to in front of the camera a few months later. 21 brings together some 80 film portraits of those witnesses listening to their own story before our eyes, immersing them-selves in their own memories, as we do in ours. Especially for the Belluard Festival, the ac-counts of three Fribourgeois have been added to the collection. The installation can be found on the first floor of the Arsen’alt.
